Believe it or not, if the bananas you have are green, firstly take out of the protective bag and hang them on a kitchen hook by the bench to decrease the rate of ripening or wrap the stalk of the banana in cling wrap or alfoil and place at room temperature.
The best is to leave in room temperature. If you do put in the refrigerator and the banana skin turns brown, that is ok as the inner banana should still be good.
